Juice WRLD's mother has released a statement about his death and drug addiction.

Days after the rapper's tragic death, his mom, Carmella Wallace, has spoken out for the first time in a statement to TMZ. She expressed deep sadness for her loss and confirmed her son was battling with prescription drug addiction.

"We loved Jarad with all of our hearts and cannot believe our time with him has been cut short," she began. "As he often addressed in his music and to his fans, Jarad battled with prescription drug dependency."

"Addiction knows no boundaries and its impact goes way beyond the person fighting it. Jarad was a son, brother, grandson, friend and so much more to so many people who wanted more than anything to see him defeat addiction," Wallace continued. "We know that Jarad's legacy of love, joy and emotional honesty will live on."

Over the years, Juice WRLD's lyrics often made references to drugs, including his track, "Hurt Me," which featured the lines, "Turned a whole different person, drive my whip/ Crash my whip off the drugs I'm swervin'/ Sticks and stones may break my bones/ But the drugs won't hurt me, won't hurt me."

As previously reported, the 21-year-old passed away suddenly after suffering a seizure at the Chicago Midway International Airport on Sunday (December 8). Sources told TMZ the "Lucid Dreams" hitmaker "swallowed several Percocet pills upon landing when he learned federal agents were going to search the plane."
