Kanye West Performs ‘Only One’ at the 2015 Grammy Awards [VIDEO]
Kanye West performed his emotional new single, 'Only One,' at the 2015 Grammy Awards tonight (Feb. 8) -- marking his return to the awards show stage for the first time in six years. In other words, it was kind of a big deal.
Performing around a halo of smoke and light, Kanye brought his signature artistry to the stage and reminded us of exactly what we've been missing all these years in his absence -- not that we were ever able to forget, really. 'Only One' -- which was written with rock royalty Paul McCartney -- is a tribute to North West, Kanye's daughter with his wife Kim Kardashian, and is reportedly sung from the perspective of his late mother, Donda West.
It's a deeply touching song and Kanye's performance managed to really hone in on the intimacy of the song. He kept his eyes closed for a good part of the performance, giving us the type of intensity we've come to expect from Kanye. In short? It was a fantastic return to the Grammy's stage.
