Katy Perry recognizes that our attention spans are shrinking, our dependence on our small screens is increasing and everyone's growing a little too comfortable living in a bubble, bubble. (Perhaps you've heard her new Purposeful Pop single "Chained To The Rhythm," and/or watched the Black Mirror-esque accompanying music video?)

For all those reasons and more, she's not giving us that Prism follow-up yet.

In a Capital FM interview recorded this week, the "Roar" pop princess revealed that there is an album coming — but not quite yet: “I’ve got something swirling, but, you know, I think I want to put out some songs first before I give them the full meal," she said.

The reason? She knows you're not going to pay attention to an entire album's worth of new songs at all once.

“I think we are digesting things in bite-size these days and that’s what we can handle. It’s not shade at all anything like that — you'll know when it's shade," she joked.

"But when someone has a 17 or 19 track album, you’re like, ‘Oh my God, I have to take a trip to Mars to listen to your record in full!’ I mean I love you, you’re my favorite dope artist, but like we want bite size. We, like, only read headlines. We don't even read the whole story!”

She went on to explain how the current climate of social media informed her decision, and reflected on its effects on our culture: "I'm fortunate enough to remember a time before we were all living our lives through a lens. But there is a generation who will never have a reference point for that, which is kind of scary, because I know that all of the intake we do on social media and how we read the news."

"It's really differently kind of rewiring our brains and our attention span and stuff like that. Bad habits are being formed. We're thinking we're connected and we're communicating, but we're so divided — it's just like, oh, where do I start?!," she exclaimed. "Turn on Black Mirror."
