Viral food critic Keith Lee has officially touched down in Lafayette, Louisiana, kicking off what many are already calling one of the most anticipated food tours the city has seen in years.

Lafayette earned the spotlight after beating out the entire states of Alabama and Mississippi in a fan-driven vote, further solidifying its reputation as a true food destination in the South.

Lee shared his arrival with followers in a video from the Lafayette airport, saying he had only been in the city for “about two minutes” before already receiving multiple recommendations, including a quick push toward Park De Oaks food truck.

First Impressions Already Stand Out

Even before tasting a single dish, Lee made it clear that Lafayette was already making an impression.

Within minutes of arriving, he said he could tell this stop might turn into one of his best food experiences yet. The reason had nothing to do with food, at least not yet.

“It’s the people,” Lee said, noting that while the South is known for its hospitality, there was something immediately special about Lafayette.

A Unique Lafayette Welcome

Lee also gave followers a glimpse into his stay, touring an Airbnb that he described as feeling like something out of a "Disney movie."

The home, which appeared older but spacious and full of character, added to the experience. At one point, Lee joked that he and his family felt like they were stepping into an episode of 'Bridgerton' as they explored the space.

His excitement was very clear throughout the video, and that energy extended to his family (especially the little ones), who also appeared eager to experience everything Lafayette has to offer.

Perfect Timing With Festival International

Lee’s visit also happens to fall during one of Lafayette’s biggest cultural weekends. Festival International, now celebrating its 40th year, is currently bringing thousands of visitors downtown with a mix of music, art, and food unique to Acadiana.

The timing could not be better. With local vendors, pop-ups, and restaurants all operating at full capacity, Lee will have no shortage of options to explore.

Local Restaurants Prepare For The Spotlight

As Lee begins his tour, local restaurants, food trucks, and mom-and-pop shops are preparing for what could be a major moment.

His visits are known to bring massive attention, often leading to long lines, sold-out menus, and a surge in tourism.

For many Lafayette restaurants and residents alike, this is just another chance for us to showcase our culture, flavors, and hospitality that make the city stand out.

Lafayette Back In The National Conversation

With Keith Lee's cameras rolling and millions (literally) watching, Lafayette is once again stepping into a major spotlight.

And if Lee’s first impressions are any indication, the city is already off to a strong start before the first bite is even taken.
