Kendrick Lamar and Drake have traded some subliminal shots over the years, but the two have never engaged in anything resembling a full-fledged beef. But according to former NFL player Marcellus Wiley, a beef was about to happen.

During an episode of ESPN 710AM's Max and Marcellus, guest host Kelvin Washington and Marcellus Wiley got into a discussion about Kendrick Lamar and Drake. After sharing their thoughts on each MC's music, Washington brought up that Drake would not want to get into a beef with Kendrick like the Toronto native did with Meek Mill. Wiley responded with a claim that he witnessed what would have been the beginning of their feud.

"I can’t say what I wanna say, but I’m gonna say it anyways because my contract is up and this might give me more money," Wiley said. "All I know is there was a beef, and all I know is I was witness to when the beef would have ignited to proportions we have not seen since Ja Rule/50, maybe even Ice Cube/N.W.A. Like it went there. But that was destroyed from everyone’s property. That was destroyed, that interview, that moment was destroyed. That’s all I’m gonna say. But I was there and I heard the shots fired."

Marcellus Wiley clarified that the instigating statement was one-sided as the two rappers were not being interviewed together in this situation. Despite some prodding by his co-host, Wiley would not identify whether it was Kendrick Lamar or Drake. He claimed after the alleged comment was made, the artist's team said that the interview could never go public.
