On Thursday (Jan. 4), it was announced that Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith would be producing Black Panther: The Album, the soundtrack for Marvel Studios' forthcoming superhero movie, Black Panther. That same day, they also unveiled "All the Stars," a K. Dot and SZA joint effort that works as the first single from the project.

Featuring a futuristic Sounwave instrumental, the new track includes defiant bars from Kendrick and a powerful, but pop-accessible hook from SZA, who killed the game with her Grammy-nominated Ctrl album last year. Sounwave produced large portions of both that project and K. Dot's DAMN.

Starting things off is Kendrick, who hits the track with four bars that feel like a collective middle finger. "Tell me what you gon' do to me/Confrontation ain't nothin' new to me/You can bring a bullet, bring a sword/Bring a morgue, but you can't bring the truth to me," Kendrick spits on the song.

Speaking on curating the Black Panther soundtrack, K. Dot seemed pretty excited, praising the film's director, Ryan Coogler.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director," K. Dot says of the new Marvel Studios film. "The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I'm truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel's vision."

Black Panther drops into theaters Feb. 16. Listen to "All the Stars" below.
