Rapper Kevin Gates is under fire for a photo that he took during a recent visit to a Louisiana state prison.

WBRZ Chief Investigator Chris Nakamoto decided to take a closer look into the rapper's visit after Gates posted a series of photos of the prison visit to his Instagram. Some of the images showed the Baton Rouge rapper hanging with incarcerated rappers C-Murder and Mac amongst others.

According to Nakamoto's investigation, the state prison claims to be looking into "policy violations" over a photo of Gates flashing a "substantial amount of $100 bills." According to the Elayn Hunt Correctional Facility, $300 is the limit on cash that can be brought into the prison.

It is against...policy to bring cash exceeding $300 into the prison, and any amount above that is considered contraband

The photo easily shows gates flaunting at least "20 or more" $100 bills. It's being reported that the rapper was visiting a relative, Lee Lucas, and was aware of prison rules.

Gates was visiting a relative, Lee Lucas, officials said, and was aware of prison rules, which he violated.

Mr. Gates had a large sum of cash which is unacceptable. [Gates] signed documentation indicating he received and understood the prison’s visitation policies, and agreed to abide by the regulations.
