Krewe De Canailles Offering Safe Celebration

It's going to be very different this year, but one thing is for sure, the Krewe de Canailles Mardi Gras celebration this year will not disappoint.

This year, with safety in mind, Blaze Petersen says, via press release, that they are starting to see lots of excitement around their celebration this year. It's going to be called Cruise de Canailles 2021. People can decorate their homes and businesses, and then everyone can have fun at a safe distance by cruising around to check out people's creativity.

So if you are wondering "who is Krewe de Canailles", they are they krewe that has their own walking parade during the Mardi Gras season in Lafayette. They have themes, and they hand out mostly home created "throws". Obviously, Lafayette will not be having a traditional Mardi Gras this year, but that was not going to stop the spirit of this innovative krewe, they are just going to change things up this year. And it's going to be a blast!

This creative, fun and Mardi Gras-loving group wants people to decorate outside of their homes, and they hope businesses will do the same. You can register at KDC2021.Eventbrite.com. It's free, and then you can cruise around, on the scheduled evening, to see all of the other people's decorations.

This city-wide celebration is a way for everyone to poke fun at things that they missed because of the pandemic or the way life changed because of the pandemic.

President of the Krewe de Canailles' board of directors, Blaze Peterson, says

We are starting to see lots of traction and excitement around the new format. It's always amazing to see how creative people are. Our event is one of the only events not cancelled in 2021, and we're excited to give people release and an opportunity to celebrate.

The real kicker of doing this is that they are asking people to play music and even dress in costume to help with the ambience of their decorations. The official event will be on Friday, February 5, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. when they will encourage people to drive on by to check out people's creations.
