The Carolina Panthers will be forced to start their #3 quarterback this Sunday, when they face the New Orleans Saints, in the 2018 regular season finale for both team.

The Panthers are down to their #3 quarterback due to injuries, with Cam Newton done for the season, as is his back-up, Taylor Heinicke, who was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday with a left elbow injury that he suffered last week against the Atlanta Falcons.

A native of Scotsdalle, Arizona, Allen signed with Texas A&M out of high school, before transferring to Houston, where he threw for 751 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2017.

An undrafted free agent, Allen spent most of this season on the Panthers' practice squad, prior to being added to their active roster on December 20.

The 22-year old Allen completed all four of his pass attempts, throwing for 38 yards, in his NFL debut against the Falcons last week.

Carolina signed Garrett Gilbert earlier this week, to provide some depth at the quarterback position.
