There's a saying about assumptions that suggests they shouldn't be made, and based on recent comments by Kyrie Irving, it would appear that the love triangle he's found himself in with Kehlani and PartyNextDoor is all based on one. When Party posted a photo of Kehlani in his bed, many assumed that the R&B singer was cheating on Irving, whom she'd been linked to just two months prior. But as the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard tells it, he and Kehlani were no longer an item at the time of Party's post.

In since deleted tweets, Irving, who scored 31 points in a Cavs loss Tuesday night, wished Kehlani the best, and called the whole incident unfortunate. "It's been hard to see what's been going on and not address the truth," Irving wrote. "I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this non sense that could have been avoided, but Me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out. It's unfortunate that it's received so much attention but its become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood. Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family. My only focus the Game I love to play every night."

Kyrie's tweets confirm what Kehlani had originally posted when she revealed that she had attempted to commit suicide Tuesday morning. In a since deleted Instagram photo, she wrote, "Don’t believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person… Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding."

Calling this a misunderstanding would be a huge understatement, as the Internet has run wild with the most sensational version of this story. Even Chris Brown participated in spinning things out of control, as he took to Twitter to back up Kyrie and slam Kehlani in one fell swoop.

For Kyrie's sake, with the NBA playoffs around the corner, shedding all distractions makes sense, but this has grown into an even bigger one than any significant other would have been. Read his clarifying tweets below.
