Lafayette Animal Shelter on a Mission to Empty the Shelter Before the Holidays
The Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center is on a mission to empty the shelter before the holidays. They have teamed up with the Bissel Pet Foundation for their “Empty the Shelters – Holiday Hope” event.
Starting December 2nd through the 17th, shelters nationwide are offering free pet adoptions to help shelter pets find their forever homes before the holidays.
Lafayette Animal Shelter Waving Pet Adoption Fees
All adoption fees for cats and dogs at LASCC have been waived, and every pet is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. The shelter, located at 410 N Dugas Road, is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
“This has been a challenging year for shelters, with many taking in more pets than are being adopted out,” said Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “This event is more than an adoption drive—it’s a lifeline for homeless pets. We urge the community to adopt or foster this holiday season.”
Shelter Supervisor Shelley Delahoussaye hopes the holidays inspire locals to open their hearts. “We have several pets who’ve been waiting for over a month to find their forever homes. The joy they bring to families is immeasurable, and there’s no better time than now to welcome them into your life,” Delahoussaye shared.
Since its launch in 2016, the Empty the Shelters campaign has helped over 300,000 pets nationwide find loving homes. Locals interested in adopting are encouraged to research their ideal pet and meet adoption requirements.
