The National Runaway Switchboard, whose mission is to help keep America’s runaway, homeless and at-risk youth safe and off the streets, states that between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth run away in a year.  The gender is split 50/50, with females being more likely to seek help from a shelter or hotline.

If you are a teenager considering running away from home, the NRS wants to help you be safe and do what you think is best for you.  They offer conference calling, live chat and even the Home Free process offered through NRS’s partnership with Greyhound Lines.  Call 1-800-RUNAWAY.
