Lafayette Mayor-President Files Lawsuit Against Man Who Staged Fake Antifa Events
Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory has filed a lawsuit against the man who staged two fake Antifa events in the city of Lafayette.
Guillory alluded to the lawsuit this morning on KPEL 96.5 after a caller asked who was footing the bill for additional security after the satirical threats.
Now, The Acadiana Advocate reports that the city is suing John Merrifield, the person who is allegedly responsible for making the "fake threats" to the River Ranch community and the Acadiana Mall.
Merrifield told the Advocate, "I think it's absolutely ridiculous that they are trying to sue me over this,"
The defendant in the lawsuit has reportedly already sought legal representation and had much more to say to the Advocate. You can read his comments by clicking, HERE.
Guillory continues to stress in the media that the city of Lafayette will not tolerate civil unrest. On numerous occasions, he has reassured the citizens of Lafayette that police will protect the well-being and property of those he has sworn to protect.
