UPDATE: Lafayette Stand-Off Suspect Identified as Rayne Man

UPDATE: 42-year-old Donald Guidry from Rayne is charged with Possession of Stolen Things and Resisting Arrest for allegedly leading police on a vehicle pursuit after he was spotted driving the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Vermilion Parish in August 2, 2020.

The chase started in the Broussard area after Lafayette Sheriff’s deputies tried to pull him over. They were eventually able to stop the vehicle. However, Guidry refused to get out of the car and was later found to be armed with a knife.

UPDATE: The situation is now over as police took the man into custody.

————————————————————                                                                                                                                     A KPEL News source says a stand-off is underway on the Evangeline Thruway in the area of Willow Street. Reports say a police chase started in the Broussard area and officers were eventually able to stop the vehicle. However, at this time the driver has refused to get out of the car and is believed to be armed. Northbound lanes of the Evangeline Thruway are closed and traffic is being diverted.
