Lafayette Woman Left Bruised After Purse Snatching Incident in Parking Lot
Always keep your guard up.
A woman in Lafayette was left with a bruise on her arm after fighting off a purse snatcher in a grocery store parking lot.
Allyson Wiggins says that the incident happened Wednesday afternoon at the Super 1 store located on Ambassador Caffery.
Wiggins says she was loading groceries into her vehicle when the suspect jumped out of a white pickup truck and grabbed her purse.
She says that she did not go down without a fight as she reportedly chased the suspect who had her purse.
It was then that he pushed her into his vehicle, injuring her arm.
Bystanders saw the incident happen and that is when they contacted Lafayette Police, who were not far from the store.
KLFY-TV reports the LPD was able to locate the vehicle the man was in and a short pursuit ensued.
The vehicle crashed shortly after the chase and that is when police were able to apprehend the suspect, however, the driver of the getaway vehicle was able to escape.
Unfortunately, the $200 cash that Wiggins had in her purse was not recovered when police found her purse in the area.
She shares her story to remind all to always be aware of their surroundings while out in the public.
