Rap's original teen superstar could very well be on his way to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. LL Cool J has been nominated for induction into the prestigious club, being the only MC among the 2018 nominees.

In order to be nominated for the hallowed hall, an artist has to have dropped their first official recording at least 25 years prior to the one they'd be up for induction. With a brash confidence, crossover appeal and plenty of skills, LL dropped his first album, titled Radio, all the way back in 1985, and rap's first true megastar was born.

In the years to come, LL, who was essentially Def Jam's first flagship artist, dropped several platinum records on his way to then-unprecedented dominance in pop culture. With these accomplishments in mind, it's no wonder LL's earned a nomination for the hall.

Other artists nominated include Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, MC5, The Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and The Zombies.
