Lorde Covers Kanye West Classics in Tribute to Chicago Concert Crowd
When in Chicago, do as the Chicagoans do, and perform a medley of Kanye West classics.
Lorde, who's in the thick of her Melodrama World Tour, did the Windy City proud Tuesday night (March 27) when she performed two of Chicago native West's most famous tracks — "Love Lockdown" and "Runaway." And she put a special twist on the latter track by mixing it with her own "Liability."
And fans went wild over the performances. "oh lorde covering 'love lockdown' is so f------ relevant to my interests," one Twitter user wrote, while another noted "She covered Kanye twice and started crying during Writer In The Dark:( no one loves Chicago like Lorde loves Chicago."
"Thanks Chicago! It must be nice to come from the same place as Kanye West,” Lorde told crowds amid the set.
The Melodrama World Tour, Lorde's second big solo outing, kicked off in September at the 02 Arena in Manchester, England. She began a North American leg in March in Milwaukee and will make her way to Detroit Wednesday night (March 28).
And Lorde's no stranger to performing the work of artists she admires — earlier this month at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, she took on Frank Ocean's song "Solo" off of Blonde.
