We are notifying next of kin. I want to thank our deputies, citizens and BRPD dive team for their help.

According to WAFB, the incident, which occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m., has left authorities scrambling to locate the driver and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Sheriff Brett Stassi of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office provided details about the alarming incident, stating that witnesses observed a man driving his car to a boat landing before driving it directly into the water. The motive or circumstances behind the driver's actions remains unknown, as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the crash.

While the search for the driver intensifies, deputies have announced that they believe they have located the submerged vehicle. However, due to the challenging conditions posed by the bayou, authorities are awaiting the assistance of a dive team to safely retrieve the car from the water.
