Louisiana Ragin' Cajun fifth-year senior running back Darius Hoggins suffered an unfortunate injury off the football field, coach Mark Hudspeth confirmed last night.

According to Hudspeth, Hoggins tripped while reading his cell phone. After the fall, he had a broken jaw and lost several teeth.

Coming into fall camp at the top of depth chart at running back, Hoggins had settled in as a rotational back before the fall.

The timetable for his return is unknown, as Hudspeth is unsure if Hoggins will be ready for the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana two weeks from Saturday.

Redshirt freshmen Trey Regas, true sophomore Raymond Calais, third year sophomore Jordan Wright and true freshmen Elijah Mitchell are all in the running back rotation, with a chance to start week 1.
