Louisiana Teen Sets ‘Guinness World Record’ In Aviation
18-year-old Mason Andrews became the youngest pilot to fly solo around the world.
Andrews is from Monroe, Louisiana and is studying professional aviation at Louisiana Tech.
When he touched down in Monroe on October 6th, 2018, he was 18 years and 163 days old. The previous record for youngest pilot to fly solo around the world was 71 days older than Andrews.
His trip took a total of 180 flight hours over 76 days. One of his stops included a three week stay in the Philippines due to typhoons.
His record was certified by Guinness World Records over the weekend. He already has his eyes set on another world record, though he won't yet reveal what it is.
