After a Baton Rouge hospital refused to perform an abortion due to a new state law that effectively outlaws all abortions, a pregnant mom from Louisiana whose fetus failed to grow a skull drove 1,400 miles to New York to get the procedure.

This summer, the Louisiana Legislature enacted and Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards signed a measure outlawing almost all abortions, with the exceptions being for the mother's life or "medically hopeless" pregnancies.

Opponents of the law have contended in court that its exclusions are too vague for common people and even doctors to understand and that hospitals and doctors are reluctant to conduct any abortions because of the potential legal repercussions.

Davis was able to get funds for her trip, procedure, and recovery through a GoFundMe fundraiser, to the tune of $40,000.
