A Baton Rouge man chose jail over snitching after being contacted by police for selling official game-worn LSU football equipment on eBay.

Fletcher Sanders works at a shoe store, and recently sold a pair of cleats and gloves on eBay that were said to be worn by an LSU player during the Tigers thrilling victory over Ole Miss earlier this season.

Selling LSU equipment is illegal being that such items are technically team property, so Sanders was paid a visit by local police who gave him two options—reveal the source he got the equipment from, or go to jail.

He chose jail.

According to the police report, Sanders told the investigating officers "Do what you have to do" and that he was "not going to be responsible for ruining someone's career."

The 25-year-old was booked on counts of principal to theft and possession of stolen things and was released a short time after, posting $3,000 bail.

Police do believe this is an isolated incident and are still trying to track down the stolen equipment that allegedly sold for 100.99 on eBay.

Details are still cloudy on whether or not Sanders even knew it was illegal to sell the equipment in the first place, but this story has caused many to revisit a longstanding debate on whether or not players should receive some sort of compensation on the college level.

In addition, many are wondering if this is the type of crime that truly warranted Sanders to be thrown in jail; especially in a city that has recently been listed amongst the Top 25 Most Dangerous Cities In America.

Do you believe it was necessary to put Sanders in jail, or were police a bit excessive?

One thing is for sure--an LSU player owes him big time!
