As expected, the LSU/Texas game on Saturday night was must-see television for college football fans around the country.

The game drew a 5.8 overnight rating, ranking it as the highest-rated game of the season, and one of the most-watched early-season games in ABC Saturday Night Football History.

LSU won the match-up of teams who both went into the contest ranked in the top ten, defeating Texas, 45-38, in Austin, Texas.

The game, which was the most-watched in the early season, drew monster ratings in two prime local markets, generating a 33.6 share in New Orleans, and a 28.3 share in Austin.

The Texas A&M/Clemson match-up, which drew a 4.7 rating, was the second-most-watched college football game over the weekend.
