Before I tell you what Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser said yesterday before the Saints-Cowboys game, I should give you a bit of a background.

Back in 2015, when Nungesser was running for his current office, myself and a couple of other DJs from our station were judging a cook-off at Blackham Coliseum. He made his way over to the judges' tent to shake some hands while on his campaign trail.

We had a very warm conversation with him and told him that should he win the seat he was invited anytime to come by our studios to chat about the goings-on of his office and our great state's tourism.

Lt. Governor Nungesser has yet to take us up on that offer since he's been in office, which started in January of 2016. We've seen him make countless rounds with other local media.

So we jest at him every chance we can. (But it's all in good fun.)

Now, I said all that to show the following video. It's before the Cowboys-Saints game last night in New Orleans.

A reporter from WWL-TV was outside of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome getting fans' thoughts on the game. As you'll see, the interviews are quite light-hearted as she tries to capture the essence of the atmosphere.

But in the middle of it all, the reporter spots someone shes knows -- you guessed it, it's Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser.

He immediately tells her that he just got off a float in the "Corn Parade in New Iberia and headed here."

Yes, the man actually thought he was part of the Corn Festival and not the Sugarcane Festival. To his defense, they each have stalks. Yeah, let's go with that.

(Fast forward to about the 5:40 mark to see Nungesser's comments.)

On behalf of this station, we'd like to formally invite Mr. Nungesser to appear on our show so we can show him the difference between corn and sugarcane.

Maybe he's been to the Bunkie Sugarcane Festival and it was all a bit confusing for him?

We love you Billy!
