Viewers Want Trigger Warnings Added to New Netflix Movie ‘Luckiest Girl Alive’

There are movies that get spoiled just from the trailer. There are some movies that are predictable from the trailer. Sometimes you don't want to see a movie at all because of obvious plot lines.

None of these apply to Netflix's newest movie 'Luckiest Girl Alive'

'Luckiest Girl Alive' is the top-streamed movie on Netflix, and for good reason. Although, some viewers are demanding trigger warnings be placed before viewing. This ties back into the promotion of the movie. It was marketed as something completely different than what the movie is about but in the best way possible.

This movie follows a woman named Ani who is seemingly making a name for herself in New York City, with her soon-to-be "my grandfather owns a wing of a hospital" husband. We quickly learn that nothing is what it seems when Ani is haunted by her tragic and vile past, as questions start arising from a major deadly incident from her high school days.

Here's where the trigger warnings come in. I was completely whiplashed by these explicit scenes that are unfortunately vital to the plot line of the movie and overall theme. The movie includes rape and violence via a school shooting...among many other consequential feelings and actions to follow.

This movie is powerful. I was not expecting it. It's about going through the trauma, and not around it. It's painful, it's frustrating, it's emotional. This movie needs to be seen by everyone. The movie is fiction but the message is very real.

I would recommend this movie to anyone. If you have these triggers and issues with the topics covered, watch with someone you trust or talk to someone you trust before and after. This is the brutal truth so many girls and women go through.

Being afraid to speak up, in any situation, is a terrifying decision. You face retaliation, you face guilt, and you face judgment from your family, your peers, and yourself. It's so much more than just saying the words.

This movie is a portrayal of a woman's journey through her emotions and decisions after a tragic series of events. I cannot say if it's an accurate portrayal. I have never been in that situation. I am in the minority of women, sadly. I cannot fathom any aspect of what happens and the consequential actions.

This movie is a loud and clear message that needs to be amplified everywhere. It's been all about being hush-hush and being quiet. That won't work anymore. This movie is a must-watch, but just be careful when you do.
