Madonna Made Rita Ora Kneel Before Her When They First Met
As the reigning queen of pop now, forever and always, Madonna has the kind of overarching authority and command to make burgeoning pop stars submit to her every whim -- and that's pretty much what happened the first time she and Rita Ora crossed paths.
Rita was in attendance at London's Time for Change charity event, located at Twikenham Stadium, when suddenly Madonna entered the room, surrounded by a lighting rig.
"I was once doing a charity event and I met my idol Madonna. I was waiting for her and I was shivering," Rita explained during a recent interview. "And my sister said to me, ‘Are you OK? You look really crazy.' And I was like, ‘I think I am going to be sick’. And Madonna walks in with lighting all around her."
Undeterred, Rita went in for introductions anyway, but Madonna stopped her.
"I said, ‘Hi, it is so nice to meet you,’ and she was like, ‘This is the lighting here. Can you just kneel down here on the floor?’ I was like okay," she explained. "So I kneeled down on the floor and we had this conversation where I was on the floor."
The two proceeded to exchange words, Rita on her knees before Madonna, who was enveloped in a halo of light. It all sounds so very biblical.
"Can you believe that? But that is Madonna and she can do whatever she wants," Rita continued, correctly assessing Madonna's power. "That was major. Everything is a learning curve.”
Rita went on to appear in Madonna's "Bitch I"m Madonna" music video, so it was clearly worth the symbolic act of submission.
