How did this happen? Just look at that music video! Listen to that angelic voice! How is it even possible that Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" is not the most played Christmas song?

This is the same feeling I get when my Snapchat streak goes away, it's heartbreaking. "All I Want for Christmas is You" has been the quintessential Christmas jam since 1994, and all of a sudden it's just not? Who on Earth could dethrone Mariah?

The Shins. The-flipping-Shins, that's who. I'm not hating on The Shins, I like The Shins, but I am 100% hating on their cover of "Wonderful Christmastime" that has some how knocked the most epic Christmas song of all time down to the #2 spot. If you haven't heard it yet give it a listen and then make your decision, but if you decide The Shins are better you are wrong. Just saying.

Yeah, it's Christmas-y, but it is not as Christmas-y as "All I Want for Christmas is You", that's for sure! I do have to give The Shins props on the music video though, who doesn't love watching a roaring fire for 2 minutes straight. I am actually being serious, I could watch logs burning all day during this time of year.

Well played, The Shins, well played. But, don't expect to be in that #1 position next year, I have a feeling Mariah will be making a Christmas comeback.
