Thie big showdown between the McNeese Cowboys and the LSU Tigers football programs is going down this Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

The McNeese Cowboys lost their season opener at home in a close game 42-35 to West Florida to fall to 0-1 on the young season. Even though the Cowboys lost the game, they looked great and played a really good football team.

West Florida is a D II school and an example of why we are saying this team is really good is they won the D II football national championship in 2019.

The LSU Tigers lost their first game of the year to UCLA in the Rose Bowl in California this past weekend. The Tigers finished last season at 5-5 and couldn't get it together against UCLA.  The Tigers fell 38-27 to the Bruins starting the season at 0-1.

Before that game, the LSU Tigers were ranked at #16 in the polls but after the loss to unranked UCLA, they fell out of both the AP and Amway/Coaches Polls.

Now this Saturday, both teams will be looking to notch a win under their belt. The Cowboys will travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU in Tigers Stadium.  The game time is set for 7:00 pm.

On top of the fact that this is two Louisiana teams facing off, the big storyline is that LSU Head Coach Ed Orgeron will be coaching against his son Cody Orgeron who is the starting quarterback for the McNeese Cowboys.  So look for that storyline to play out during the game.

The McNeese/LSU game will be televised on ESPN+ and the SEC Network+.
