The father of Michael Brown has released a video message to protesters ahead of a grand jury's decision on whether or not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.

In a clip released Thursday, Michael Brown Sr. asked for calm in the upcoming days as a grand jury is expected to announce their decision on the fate of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.

There has been little to no trust between protesters in Ferguson and the police as racial tension and violence continues to swell in the St. Louis suburb. Demonstrations continue to lead to arrests and there is fear that the jury's verdict will lead to even more violence.

Michael Brown Sr. urges supporters to unite their voices, but reminds them that “hurting others or destroying property is not the answer.”

My family and I are hurting, our whole region is hurting. I thank you for lifting your voices to end racial profiling and police intimidation -- but hurting others or destroying property is not the answer. No matter what the grand jury decides, I do not want my son’s death to be in vain. I want it to lead to incredible change, positive change, change that makes the St. Louis region better for everyone. We live here together, this is our home. We’re stronger united. Continue to lift your voices with us and lets work together to heal and to create lasting change for all people regardless of race. Thank you.

We will update you with the latest news upon the grand jury's decision.
