We understand that the Lafayette Parish Corner's Office has released the body of UL student, Mickey Shunick, to her family. However, her family is making private arrangements at this time.Mickey's father recently stated that they are in the process of putting together a public memorial to celebrate Mickey's life. The date of the public memorial has not been set.

Shunick went missing on May 19th and her body was recovered in Evangeline Parish on August 7th. The case would come to a close when Brandon Scott Lavergene confessed to her murder.

Lavergene is now serving two consecutive life sentences in the Louisiana State Penitentiary for the murders of both Mickey Shunick and Lisa Pate. Pate's body was discovered near Church Point in 1999.

When we receive details on the public memorial we will pass along all of the information to you On-Air and On-Line.
