Miss Louisiana Wins the Miss America Talent Competition [VIDEO]

On the second night of the Miss America pageant, Miss Louisiana and Mandeville resident, April Nelson, won the talent portion of the competition with her rendition of "Climb Every Mountain" from The Sound of Music. According to NJ.com April Nelson was a former musical theater major at Oklahoma City University as well as a long time fan of The Sound of Music and Julie Andrews.

As a fellow musical theater nerd and fan of Julie Andrews, as well as a lover of all things Louisiana, I really hope April Nelson takes home the crown during the final night of pageantry on Sunday, Sept. 13. The 89th Miss America pageant will be held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and will broadcast on ABC.
