"They Say the Real Taste of Louisiana Lies in Lafayette"

Food influencer Mr. Chimetime has made his decision — and Lafayette, Louisiana, you're on the clock.

After spending an extended amount of time in New Orleans and calling the food scene “overhyped,” the outspoken North Carolina foodie took to social media over the weekend to say he was debating whether to extend his trip in NOLA or give Lafayette a try. By Sunday night, the verdict was in: he’s heading to the 337.

Brutally Honest, Frequently Viral

Mr. Chimetime is known for his tell-it-like-it-is food reviews, which often go viral for all the wrong (or right?) reasons. His critiques have sparked debates online and rubbed many the wrong way, especially when aimed at beloved local restaurants.

Still, his following continues to grow, and his posts get thousands of likes, shares, and comments. Whether you agree with him or not, people clearly pay attention to what he has to say.

Internet Divided: "He Goes to the Wrong Places!"

When Chimetime called New Orleans food “overhyped,” comments came pouring in. Some said he just doesn’t know where to go. Others accused him of intentionally targeting popular restaurants to stir up engagement.

A few defended him, saying his reviews reflect the average person’s experience, not the polished path of a local food critic.

In his own words, Chimetime admits he's not a trained chef or expert, just a guy with an appetite and a camera.

“They say the REAL taste of Louisiana lies in Lafayette,” he wrote. Decisions… decisions…”

Will Lafayette Deliver?

Now that he’s Lafayette-bound, the question becomes: will Acadiana leave a better taste in his mouth?

If you're hoping to steer him right, now’s the time to speak up. The city’s food scene is packed with local gems, family-owned staples, and hidden treasures that define our rich Creole and Cajun identity.

So where should Mr. Chimetime go first?
Laura's II? Judice Inn? Po’ Boys from Pop's and Olde Tyme? Bon Temps Grill? KOK Wings & Things? T-Coons? Ton’s Drive-In? Uncle T's? Mandez's? A trip to a zydeco breakfast at Buck & Johnny’s?

Let’s hope we can show him what the 337 is really about, because if Lafayette can’t change his mind, maybe no one can.

Drop your favorite Lafayette food spots in the comments and let’s help him get it right this time.
