After his 1994 debut, Mystikal quickly became one of the most recognizable rappers in the Dirty South. After gaining their attention, Mystikal signed to Jive Records and released his first major-label album, Mind Of Mystikal. He then signed to Master P's No Limit Records in 1996, releasing two more albums, (Unpredictable & Ghetto Fabulous) that topped the Billboard charts. The success of these two albums as well as numerous appearances on other successful No Limit recordings is what helped Mystikal gain a substantial following and wide national appeal throughout the late 90s.

In 1999 Mystikal left No Limit and in 2000 released Let's Get Ready which featured the hit singles Danger and Shake It Fast, both celebrating cult-like popularity. His 2001 release, Tarantula produced the hit single Bouncin' Back (Bumpin' Me Against The Wall) and also made Mystikal a Grammy nominee for Best Rap Album, and Best Male Rap Solo Performance.

Unfortunately, Mystikal faced legal issues at the height of his career in 2004, but bounced back in 2010, headlining shows and signing to Cash Money Records in 2011. He is currently touring the United States in preparation for his 7th studio album Original to be released later this year.
