National Guard Leads Battle Against School Computer Hackers [VIDEO]

Colonel Ed Bush of the Louisiana National Guard talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright about the recent computer hacks affecting three school districts in north Louisiana.

Bush explains to KEEL listeners how, after a statewide emergency was declared by Governor John Bel Edwards, the National Guard coordinated a response team of digital security experts coming from a variety of backgrounds.

"Tech experts are trying to figure out who's behind a recent malware attack targeting schools.

The declaration allows local governments to work with cybersecurity experts from the Louisiana National Guard, Louisiana State Police, and the Office of Technology Services to resolve and prevent future attacks.

This is the first time an emergency declaration was issued statewide because of a cyber security concern."

Bush says that three school districts were affected by the attacks, Sabine, Monroe and Morehouse. The Colonel adds that Sabine was the hardest hit and that the hack seems to be email based.
