NBA YoungBoy Walks New Orleans Streets After Sold-Out Homecoming Show
Videos posted across social media showed Louisiana rapper NBA YoungBoy casually walking the streets of downtown New Orleans late Sunday night, following his sold-out show at the Smoothie King Center.
Fans Swarm the Rapper on Bourbon Street
According to multple eyewitness videos, fans flooded Bourbon Street and Canal Street after the rapper was spotted surrounded by his entourage.
The scene quickly turned chaotic as hundreds of fans crowded around YoungBoy, with some describing it as “Michael Jackson-level energy.”
Witnesses said fans screamed, cried, and chased the Baton Rouge native down the street before New Orleans Police officers intervened, escorting him safely to a waiting vehicle.
Heavy Police Presence Around Smoothie King Center
Law enforcement had already been on high alert, with over 400 officers stationed in and around the Smoothie King Center throughout the weekend.
The extra security came amid safety concerns following several tour dates across the country being canceled due to potential threats.
Despite those fears, there were no reported issues during the New Orleans shows.
A Long-Awaited Return to Louisiana
For YoungBoy, this weekend marked a major milestone, his first Louisiana performance in seven years.
Legal restrictions and security concerns have kept him off his home-state stages for nearly a decade.
Local DJ Jarred Sam (aka Big Sam) of Lafayette, who attended the concert with his son, said, “The crowd was full of real fans. You could feel how much it meant to everyone to see him back home again.”
As fans prepare for night two at the Smoothie King Center, New Orleans officials are expecting another packed house, and hoping for another peaceful night.
