New Movie Releases — ‘The Five-Year Engagement,’ ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits,’ ‘The Raven,’ and ‘Safe’

Summer movie season is gearing up — this weekend offers no fewer than four new flicks opening in wide release.

‘The Five-Year Engagement’ looks at what happens when an engaged couple keeps getting tripped up on the long walk down the aisle.

The animated ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ follows a captain as he enlists his rag-tag crew to help beat his bitter rivals and win the much coveted Pirate of the Year Award.

‘The Raven’ sees Edgar Allen Poe joining forces with a young detective to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the inspiration for a string of brutal murders.

And in ‘Safe,’ a second-rate cage fighter incurs the wrath of the Russian Mafia when he blows a rigged fight, and later must protect a young orphan from the same gangsters who killed his family.
