Louisiana Man Accused of Pulling Gun After Drive-Thru Refuses His Order
A late-night fast-food run in Louisiana took a bizarre and frightening turn when a man allegedly pulled a gun on restaurant employees after they refused to take his order at the drive-thru window.
Surveillance video released by the New Orleans Police Department shows the confrontation, which ended with the suspect climbing back out of the window and escaping on a motorized scooter.
Police say the man has since been arrested and is facing a felony charge.
Fast-Food Order Turns Into Armed Confrontation
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the incident happened around 11:44 p.m. on Friday, October 9, at a fast-food restaurant in the 4300 block of General De Gaulle Drive in Algiers.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as Delton Montrell Hunter, approached the restaurant's drive-thru window on foot and attempted to place an order.
Employees reportedly explained that they could not serve him through the drive-thru because company policy prohibited taking orders from pedestrians.
That's when police say the situation escalated.
According to investigators, Hunter became enraged by the refusal, climbed through the drive-thru window and allegedly brandished a firearm while demanding food from employees.
Despite the alleged threats, workers refused to comply with his demands.
Surveillance Video Shows Suspect Climbing Through Window
Surveillance footage released by NOPD on October 14 shows the suspect climbing through the restaurant's drive-thru window during the confrontation.
Police say that after employees continued refusing his demands, the suspect eventually climbed back out through the same window.
He then reportedly fled the restaurant on a motorized scooter.
The unusual circumstances of the alleged crime, which began over a refused fast-food order, have drawn attention to the case.
Although the suspect allegedly displayed a firearm and demanded food, police have not reported that any food or money was taken during the incident.
