Update

Lafayette Police have announced a new arrest in the homicide investigation surrounding the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Samuel Miley.

According to police, Nicholas Williams, 20, of Lafayette, has been arrested and charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder in connection with the July 31 shooting on Sherwood Drive. Williams was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

The arrest comes one day after detectives announced they had arrested a 15-year-old juvenile in the case. Hours later, police determined that juvenile was not criminally involved in the shooting, recalled the arrest warrant, and released the teen from custody.

Detectives have continued investigating the case, which has now led to the arrest of Williams. The investigation remains active, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
