The life and times of Nicki Minaj are coming to a television near you. The rap superstar's rags-to-riches story will be made into a comedy for ABC Family.

The untitled series, which Nicki will appear in, focuses on the rapper's childhood in Queens, N.Y. in the 1990s along with her Trinidadian family who are immigrants. The series will feature the personal and musical plot lines that eventually led to the rap star we know today. “This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” said Minaj. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

The show is set to shoot a pilot this winter in her hometown. "Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” said ABC Family’s EVP Programming and Development. “Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

The Pinkprint creator's show continues the increase in biographical, hip-hop programming we've seen lately. In addition to Eddie Huang's Fresh Off the Boat, a new show is in the works about rapper Heems' life called Eat Pray Thug.
