The winner of BET's Best Male Hip Hop Artist has been decided.

On Sunday night (June 23), the late, great Nipsey Hussle posthumously won the award for Best Male Hip Hop Artist at the 2019 BET Awards, which took place at Los Angeles' Microsoft Theatre.

Nipsey's posthumous win arrives a year after he unloaded Victory Lap, his major label debut album that featured all the street wisdom he'd instilled on his previous projects and more. Other rappers up for the award included hip-hop heavyweights like 21 Savage, Drake, J. Cole, Meek Mill and Travis Scott.

In addition to this posthumous award, Nipsey was the subject of a thoughtful tribute performance from DJ Khaled, John Legend and YG, all three artists he'd collaborated with while he was alive. Nipsey, who left behind a legacy of philanthropy and the idea of self-sufficiency in the Black community as well as the music industry, was also awarded BET's Humanitarian Award. Nipsey's friend T.I. spoke on the late rapper's legacy just before the tribute performance began.

"There will never be another Nipsey Hussle," Tip said. "He was a revolutionary...He inspired people across the world; many are still discovering how legendary he really was," the Atlanta rapper explained.

T.I. presented the Humanitarian Award to Nipsey's family, including his longtime girlfriend Lauren London, his children, parents, grandmother and sister. The moment marked one of the night's most memorable.

Rest in peace to Nipsey Hussle.
