Jay Z’s voice may stand out to many fans, but for N.O.R.E., the iconic Brooklyn lyricist sounds like a white man these days. The Queens MC stopped by the Genius offices to annotate his SPK-produced track “Moments” and describes a surprise phone call from the Roc Nation boss.

So is Hov calling Noreaga and his bars on “Moments” connected? On the track N.O.R.E. rhymes about the incident. “Day after Thanksgiving, got a call from Jay Z/Said he wanted to build about something I said/Perhaps I was misled.”

Back in 2015, N.O.R.E. appeared on Taxstone's podcast, where he corroborated a false rumor that Big Pun hit Jay over the head with a bottle in nasty club brawl. The next day (the day after Thanksgiving), Jay caught wind and decided to get N.O.R.E. on the phone to discuss it.

“He called in and it was an unknown call, so I picked it up and he said, ‘Yo,’ and I said, ‘Yo,’" N.O.R.E. explained. "He said, 'Yo, this Jay.’ I said, ‘Jay who? For arguments purposes, 'Jay who?’" Then he said "‘Jay Z.’” I said, ‘Whoever this is need to work on their Jay Z accent because you sound super white. There’s no way you can be Jay Z.” Not swayed, N.O.R.E. hung up on him.

“He called back,” N.O.R.E. said.

Apparently Jay received the phone number from Memphis Bleek. The fellas began talking as Noreaga was shocked Jay took time out of his schedule during holiday season to call him up regarding what he said on the podcast the day before.

But Jay wasn't interested in the podcast talk. "He was like, 'Nah, I don't care. I care about the world,'" N.O.R.E. said. "He was like, 'N.O.R.E, you my nigga, I care about you, N.O.R.E.'" When he asked Jay how he could fix it, Jay said there was nothing to fix. Except if it comes up again.

Unlike contemporary rap disputes, the veteran MCs settled it with a simple phone convo as opposed to taking it to Twitter. Looks like it's all love now even though N.O.R.E. joked he never used the number or called Hov again. Peep the clip above.
