There will never be too many ways to honor the legacy of The Notorious B.I.G., especially in his home borough of Brooklyn.

As reported by Brooklyn Paper, the late rapper is one step closer to having the street he grew up on renamed in his honor. According to them, the motion to rename Biggie's childhood block, Clinton Hill, was passed in a vote by the borough’s Community Board 2. This means the initiative is that much closer to becoming a reality.

Next, the motion will have to receive an official approval from the City Council and Mayor De Blasio. The motion was first presented years back by LeRoy McCarthy and if passed, will rename the block of St. James Place, between Gates Avenue and Fulton Street, as Christopher Wallace Way.

“Honoring Biggie symbolizes more than just one man,” McCarthy shared with Rolling Stone. “It symbolizes a culture. It symbolizes a borough. It symbolizes a people, and hip-hop is worldwide.”

McCarthy hopes the motion will receive the final approval in time to rename the street by The Notorious B.I.G.’s next birthday, on May 21st.

Most recently, the legendary rapper was honored by the Brooklyn Nets, who created a new city edition uniform drawing inspiration from the rapper’s iconic affinity for coogi sweaters.
