A 19-year-old student at an Evangeline Parish high school was arrested on Friday for terrorism after threatening his school.

According to the Pine Prairie Police Department, they received information around 9:00 pm on Thursday evening regarding a social media threat of a possible school shooting that was going to happen at Pine Prairie High School on Friday, September 16th.

The Pine Prairie Police Department, in conjunction with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, the Turkey Creek Police Department and the Evangeline Parish School Board, locked down the school on Friday in search of the student.

"We immediately contacted the school board and put the school on a level 1 lockdown today. We had extra officers on campus today to ensure the safety of all the students. We found the suspect's information and got enough probable cause to issue an arrest warrant," a spokesperson for the Pine Prairie Police Department said.

The suspect was taken into custody and has been identified as Tyrinisky Fruge, 19, of Ville Platte. He was arrested on charges of terrorism.

This is the second such incident in the past week at an Acadiana area school.

You may recall earlier in the week, a Comeaux High School student did a similar thing, allegedly telling other students that he would "shoot up the school."

The 17-year-old in that incident was charged with terrorizing and resisting arrest.
