TRL is back in the building. Earlier this week, the MTV staple made a return to television and had Migos as their first rap guests. Next up was Playboi Carti, who just yesterday (Oct. 3) popped up to perform his platinum-selling hit "Magnolia" on the revamped TV series.

During his appearance on the show, the 2017 XXL Freshman brought his customary confidence as he rocked the stage in the MTV studios building. He later got the crowd into his appearance by acting as the judge for an impromptu Milly Rocking contest. Safe to say the crowd got the full Carti experience.

Carti, who's very recently teased a joint project between himself and Lil Uzi Vert, has been beasting all of 2017, and appearing on the new iteration of the iconic TRL is his latest achievement to add to a list of accomplishments this year. Of course, he was also named a XXL Freshman. Speaking with us at the cover shoot last spring, the rapper spoke on what being selected meant for his status in the rap game.

“For people who don’t know about me, being on the [XXL] cover, it will enlighten them,” Carti said at the time. “The cover is a way to be more iconic, putting me into a different category. Really moving away from that SoundCloud shit. I don’t really want to move away from it, but in order for me to be successful, I got to. It’s not even about being mainstream. As an artist, you always want to never forget where you come from. A lot of my fans come from the SoundCloud platform. I just want to make both crowds happy.”

Carti also recently teased a Hugh Hefner tribute that he produced himself.

Peep Carti's TRL performance below. Watch him judge a Milly Rocking contest after that.
