Record Crowds Over Weekend, But Spending Declined
NEW YORK (AP) — How well did retailers do in sales from Thanksgiving Day to yesterday?
A survey by The National Retail Federation suggests there were a record number of shoppers online and in stores for the four-day period.
But that did not translate to record spending.
The trade group says 4 million more people shopped during the holiday weekend this year compared to last year, but overall, some 141 million shoppers spent 2.9 percent less this year.
