The first of two weekends of the high school football championships will be held this weekend. Of the four finals being played, two of them will have Lafayette schools representing the Acadiana area.

The St. Thomas More Cougars will be taking on the De La Salle Cavaliers in the Division II championship game. That game will be played on Friday, December 6 at 7:00 pm at STM's Cougar Stadium.

In the other matchup, the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights will play host to the St. Charles Catholic Comets in the Division III championship game. That game will be played at Cajun Field on Saturday, December 7 at 6:00 pm.

We know there are tons of fans of each of these respective schools. We'd love to showcase each fanbase and give you the chance to "shoutout" your favorite player.

We'll take all the audio and make a special montage using the Kenny Chesney high school football anthem "The Boys of Fall."

So, we need your audio. If you'd like to give us your shoutout for the song, you'll have two different ways to do so.

  1. Call into the station on Wednesday, December 4 between 9:00 am and 10:00 am and we'll record your shoutout. The studio number is (337) 261-9797.
  2. Or you can record your audio using our free 97.3 The Dawg mobile app. Just click on "Boys on Fall" and follow the instructions. We'll take audio through midnight on Wednesday, December 4. (Our app is available through the App Store or Google Play.)

You can say whatever you want in your message, just try to keep it under 10 seconds so we can squeeze as many shoutouts as possible.

Something like this: "The Arceneaux family wishes the best of luck to the STM Cougars, especially #80 Brock Arceneaux. Bring home the title boys!" or "Good luck LCA in the title game. We love you #72 Shane Castille. Mom and Dad are proud of you!"

Then tune in this Friday at 7:00 am, 12:00 pm, & 5:00 pm as we'll play the special song in support of STM and LCA.

Good luck to both schools as we'll be rooting on you to hoist those state championship trophies!
