It looks like some major renovations are on the way for the nearly 30-year-old Cajundome in Lafayette.

The funding for the upgrades to the dome will come through the selling of bonds, which was approved by the State Bond Commission.

Some of the renovations will include improved lower level seating, better lighting in the dome, upgrades to restrooms and concessions, plus the roof will be re-coated. All of these renovations is estimated to cost $16.7 Million.

Some of these upgrades, like re-coating the roof, will begin soon. However, much of the renovations inside the arena will not start until next summer. The Cajundome will actually be closed between May and October, after graduation ceremonies.
