One of the most anticipated debuts in NBA history will be put on hold, as New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williams will reportedly miss "a period of weeks" due to a knee injury.

ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports through sources Williamson is not dealing with a serious injury, and the team is fully confident he will make a full recovery.

Williamson did not miss any practice during training camp and was spotted walking around the facility on Wednesday.

He did not miss any training camp, and played in the previous 4 preseason games, averaging a sensational 23.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in only 27.3 minutes per contest.

New Orleans is taking a cautious approach with Zion's injury, protecting their most valuable asset.

The Pelicans season opener is Tuesday in Toronto against the defending champion Raptors at 7:00 pm.
