Rick Ross, Dr. Dre + Jay-Z Hold Court on ‘3 Kings’ Song
The boss Rick Ross has teamed up with hip-hop’s most respected bosses for one of the biggest collaborative songs of the summer. Dr. Dre and Jay-Z join the Miami rapper on ’3 Kings,’ one of the standout tracks on Ross’ album ‘God Forgives, I Don’t’ (due out July 31).
Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex premiered the Jake One-produced song Thursday night (July 19) and the Internet went nuts. All three hip-hop heavyweights spit fiery rap quotables over a soulful and hymnic piano-driven track.
Dr. Dre starts things off, reminding naysayers of his legacy in the rap game. “The f— you magazine n—as want from me / I rewrote the game n—a / Now talk money,” he raps, adding, “All black on my Al Capone s—- / I built the house n—a, get your own s—.”
Ross follows with bars of decadent rhymes. “I came a long way from the weed game / Twenty-stack seats at the Heat game and I’m still strapped with the heat mayne / You can’t be stepping on my feet mayne,” he raps.
Jay-Z has the standout verse among the trifecta, giving a nod to Blue Ivy in his luxury verses. “Millions on the wall in all my rooms / N—-s couldn’t f— with my daughter’s room / N—-s couldn’t walk in my daughter’s socks / Bankys b—-es Basquiats,” he spits.
There is no hook, no catchy chorus or gimmicks on this song — just pure unadulterated rhymes. Before ’3 Kings’ ends, King Hov says that the song is “just different.” It is different. To hear Rozay, Dre and Hova rap boldly on a superb beat is not only different but refreshing. All hail the kings!
