A supply rocket heading towards the International Space Station blew up upon lift-off Tuesday evening.

The launch site was in Virgina, and luckily no injuries have been reported in the accident. We are currently in the post-shuttle era which means private companies are now involved in the space era. You can bet that there will be much criticism after this recent accident.

The company responsible for the launch, Orbital Science, says that there was not any extensive damage to the property and that all of it's employees have been accounted for. The company also states that the supplies that were to be sent to the six people up in the International Space Station were not urgent supplies.

Still, could you imagine being up 260-miles and seeing your supplies down below explode upon take off? That is precisely what happened for those awaiting these supplies.

The estimated cost of launching this mission was $200 million, not calculating the repair costs now.
